Moving to New-Hope

The New Hope Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to offering programs for residents of all ages to keep them active and live a long and healthy lifestyle. Beginning sports programs are available for preschoolers and young children. Sports like T-Ball, Pee Wee Soccer, Tumbling Tots and more help children start being active from a young age. Older kids will appreciate activities like Pastel Arts, Safety Camp, Bike Rodeo and Babysitter Training. The adults are not left out, either. They can participate in programs like the No-Stress Basic Chess for Adults, a variety of adult fitness classes and fun outings with the Community Tripsters. The Inspections Division of New Hope's Community Development Department is designed to make sure all newly constructed buildings in the city are built to compliance with the state's building codes. It also suggests improvements for existing buildings to ensure the safety of New Hope residents. The main responsibilities of the Inspection Division include commercial site inspections, point of sale inspections, residential site inspections and more. It also deals with building permits. The New Hope Community Farmers Market is a new feature in the city. Located at 4300 Xylon Avenue North, the Farmers Market is open on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. from mid-June to mid-October. It began in October 2009 and vendors come from all around to sell locally grown foods and merchandise in this open-air facility. You can come get fresh fruits, flowers, vegetables, crafts and more. There are also community groups with information booths and live entertainment. It's the perfect place to spend a Saturday morning! There are three main libraries within just a short distance from New Hope and they are all part of the Hennepin County Library System. The Rockford Road Library, Brookdale Library and Golden Valley Library have reference materials, computers, A/V equipment and more to help area residents learn more about their favorite topic or research a new one.
